About the Winter League 2012 We finally have details of our winter league. We were unable to get Penn Oaks this year but we do have Granite Run instead. Different from last year, we have the leagues playing on two days, with Roland Garros and Davis Cup 1 playing on Saturday, and Davis Cup 2 playing on Sunday. The sites and times are as follows: Roland Garros Level(this is for the advanced players only) will be held at Dupont CC on Saturday nights 8-10pm on the following days: Jan 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th, Feb 4th, Feb11th with snow date Feb 25th A second league at the Davis Cup level will play at HIT Tennis club also on Saturdays 5.30-7.30pm on the following days: Jan 7th, 14th, 28th, Feb 4th,11th, 25th with Mar 3rd as snow date-(no league on Jan 21st) A third league ,again at the Davis Cup Level, will play at Granite Run Tennis Club on the following SUNDAY AFTERNOONS 3-6pm (one match played 3-4.30, the second 4.30-6) on the following days: Jan 8th,15th,22nd,29th Feb 5th, 12th with snow date Feb 26th Please note that there is no league play on Presidents' day weekend. Please note that it is our decision where players play. Therefore, at this stage, you must be prepared to go to whichever site we assign. However, please indicate on the registration form your site preference for HIT or Granite Run IF you are assigned to the Davis Cup Leagues. We will do our best to accommodate your request but there are no guarantees! We have less players in the winter so there are no guarantees that the player will play in the same league as the Fall or that we can accommodate every one who applies. Also on the registration form we are asking that you give us only ONE email address- please make sure that this is accessible on a Saturday and Sunday in the event of snow cancellation. This league aims to give each player 18 games of competitive tennis a week. In order to achieve this each player needs to aim to attend the league every week. We understand that occasionally something may arise. So we ask that every effort is made to attend and also to be willing to be a substitute for one of of the other matches in the same league or another league. The cost is $125. Apart from the tennis this includes the T shirt, gift and end of season Banquet. We realize that this is much higher than the Fall but we have to pay for the indoor courts which are very expensive. For this reason there will be no refunds. Also we must have the fee with the application or we will not process the application. There are no practices. Because the safety of our players is of paramount importance, we may also cancel a session if we believe the weather is too dangerous even though the tennis club may stay open – in that instance we will still have to pay for the courts and will not be able to refund money for that session. Please note that this has not happened so far. We do have 1 snow date in all 3 sites(assuming we get HIT at any site). Therefore if we are snowed off twice or more, there will only be ONE make up date.
